peace of heart

why does love drain our energy?
we wonder all the while
an endless road of circumstance
but, still we walk the miles
comparing and contrasting each
separate in their form
different in divinity
relentless in their storm
broken down and torn apart
unknowing in our ways
hoping such that happenstance
will relieve our dismay
taking less and giving more
being our best to be
reliquishing our blindness
trying our best to see
hoping that someone will see us
doing what we do
riding the same wavelength
having the same clue
knowing that it's what we offer
not what we take away
that rewards us with true happiness
and brightens every day
seeking not the end in sight
vague as that may sound
paying attention to the moments
as they come around
wanting to be there for someone
forever, without end
to always help their happiness
and always be their friend
the ones that love me will provide
the love i need for me
and i will do the same for them
as hard as it might be
i'm guilty as anyone
of false security
of taking things for granted
assuming things would be
overlooking ones who need me
because it wasn't fun
wanting not to deal with them
wanting just to run
if there's one thing i've learned thus far
about life as a whole
if someone says they love you true
be gentle with their soul
and if your looking for something
that's lost and can't be found
remember this
it's love alone that makes the world go 'round
