Summer Fling

You flirt like an
  amateur:
But I find it
  slightly endearing
    (or even challenging)
  when you pretend
    not to notice me
  as I walk into
    the room.
I patiently wait
  by the bar
    (the silent spider)
watching you light
  your cigarette and
  glance my way
    (the tentative fly).

Who would've thought
that your shy smile
  was going to be enough
  to make me fumble
  at your approach
    (because I felt my heart
     do a turn)...
I reach for my drink
and wonder
  how I managed to
get caught in my own web
    (the careless spider)
  by an amateur like you
    (the not-so-amateur fly).
