Waxing and Waning

Cyclic perhaps
This love
Like the moon

At times full
Brilliant
Illuminating the darkness
Casting it's glow
Over all it touches

At times waning
Showing but half
It's silvery face
Leaving half in darkness
Obscured
Unknowable

At times a mere crescent
Visible but narrow
A pallid sliver of light
Illuminating little

At times invisible
Seeming to disappear
Leaving only darkness
Where the brilliance once was

But for all
This waxing
And waning
The moon itself is constant
Showing different faces
Yet remaining unchanged

It is merely our vantage point
Which changes
The moon itself
Remains eternal
As does our love
