Blender of Love Digest July 1999

The Heat Is On

Summer's swinging and the sun is sweltering. Welcome to the July 1999 edition of the Blender Digest.

This month's Front Page Pick seem to be gravitating towards the gritty slice of life. Appropriate for the drama and romance I've always associated with summer, all the way back to my earliest loves at Summer Camp... also, there are slightly more great picks tha average, and more double picks by the same author.

This month's ramble is a review of Mark O'Donnell's "Getting Over Homer"- a very smart, funny romantic tragedy. Much better than "typical" summer reading fair.

So...
Read, Love, Enjoy.

Front Page Picks
Between Roots
Silence
Escape by Bus
Three by Erica Naone (LadyFebruary@yahoo.com). Erica's works are redolent of history. They have a depth and context that few works on this site can touch. "Between Roots" is a particularly interesting meditation on interracial dating
To Michael, asleep on the train By Sue Yurick(yuricksl@iserv.net).
"An older woman studies a younger man"... another piece that covers more than just romance.
untitled By jill (jills@wam.umd.edu).
A small piece on some of the cycles of romance.
confusion By deevaa.
Tales from after the breakup. (You know, "amongst" is a word we don't see very often 'round these parts...)
He Wins...I Lose By MegAngel..MegAngel25@aol.com.
A prose piece. (Come to think of it, we don't see "nautetorium" much either.)
Rat Race By Isolde.
A rough flowing piece, but it's central metaphor rung too many bells for me to leave out.
'mushy'
Tender moments
Two by Angel <no1halo@yahoo.com>. Clever wordplay in small packages can be a powerful thing.
to my credit By Misti Velvet Rainwater.
It's good to know that love hasn't dulled MVR's poetic sense, or sensibilities.
*the evils of alcohol* By erin.
Not the epitome of romance, but sometimes the way people interact.
eVaNgElInE
When You are young...
Two by ZoE, each very unique.
Backseat By Cosette.
People who have been keeping up with the Blender Board have had an interesting view of the romance between Cosette and sinneD.
progess
(the end)
Two by star69, slices of life.
3/10 By Jenna.
Submitted by ZoE. A tribute of sorts.
mindless ramblings from me....
doll
Two by The Guppy. Guppy has this great sense of chaos that he brings to these works, even when he adheres to strict haiku syllable counts. (The first is from e-mail that had been sent to deevaa.)
Heart on Sleeve Corner
All the remaining heartsongs sent to the Blender last month.

Features
Ramble Regarding Romance
