A Gesture

Walking
Talking
Hardly aware of night
Heavy breathing
As we climb this hill

We are not a couple
(Of friends maybe)
And you reach for the box
In my hands
To free my arms

And I thank you
And can not stop
Smiling!

For the first time
I've been treated like a lady
Something so simple
An offer
A helping hand
Something most women
Experience
Everyday

And all I consider
Now
Is how I could love you
For being a gentleman.

Something so simple
A gesture
And all of a sudden
I'm a lady.
And I can't stop smiling.
