My Life As A Sitcom

If my life were a sitcom
I'd have you over to my pad
make you a cup of real cocoa
And talk to you until you fall
asleep on the futon in my
funky hip & arty living room
We'd hang out together
on Saturday night
While our roomates had dates
(probably with each other
without our knowledge-
hell, they've probably
been getting it on for who
knows how long)
We'd discuss our lives
as always
while avoiding the obvious
-that network execs say
the audience really, really
wants us to wake up and
realize that we're in love
and then we'll have a big wedding
as a season finale.
Thank God for real life.
No season fianles
or execs or stats
or anyone but us
to decide our fates.
