Waiting for Redemption

Forgive me,
for I don't know what I'm doing.
It's been so long
since my soul has
been this
awake.
It's been too long.
I found you by accident.
We're friends, you know.
And I worry about risking
a long-standing friendship
for a chance at the one
romance
that could go
perfectly right
or horribly wrong.

I found your name
written on my heart
in a bout of
spiritual spring cleaning.
Believe me,
I was just as surprised
as I imagine you are.
Don't try to tell me
this didn't actually
surprise you.
For if it truly didn't,
then you should have
called me on my feelings
long ago.

So here I wait
I'm used to waiting
I spent too long
waiting for redemption
Now I have found it
And now I'm waiting
to

act.
