My turn at the yoke
pulling with all my might
doing the heavy lifting
in this relationship
I know it is not easy for you
to take everything
I bring along with me
the history
the emotional baggage
the hurts not forgotten
and I know you do love me 
deeply
It is just so hard
sometimes to drag all this
around when I am
knee deep in the mire
of the world,
and you are right where I 
told you to stay,
in the wagon I am trying to pull
safe and dry
I shouldn't resent 
anyone other than myself
for feeling frustrated sometimes
