bedrock

Maybe you will never
completely believe...

Dig into my heart
and you will hit bedrock - 
there is permanence
within me.
Everything built on that
solid foundation
derives some of
that permanence -
commitment, dedication,
love...
sincerity.
These elements of me
The structure on which
to hang one's life,
not a commodity to be
traded back and forth,
have never failed
when life sends those heart quakes
measured on the Richter scale 
of what really matters.
What is hung from that structure
such as false notions about
the way things are or the
way they ought to be
may come loose, tumbling away
But the bedrock
never changes
The structure is never broken.
