imprint

Does the presence of
some words on a page
lend any more permanence
to what is in my heart?
Do the feelings I have
wrapped within those words
convey even a hint
of their true meaning?
I should call
right now
and at least tell you
why I am hurting so.
But would even that
make any difference?
The vapor turned into 
electrons isn't any
more permanent than
the blood cells of the love
coursing through my veins.
But cells regenerate
memory is permanent at a 
cellular level
And it is at that level
that my forever
- the one I have spoken of -
is imprinted on the 
DNA of my soul.
