To Melissa, with love

Last night I had a dream
that with an empty canvas and great elation
God began working on His greatest creation
a being so precious and fair
such that all the wonders of earth could not compare
Stunning eyes drawn from the bluest seas
and from the sun was woven her golden hair
lips of honey and skin like cream
a shining princess from a perfect dream
Then He took His own joy and laughter
and created her heart and soul
within which burned such a light
that all the stars in heaven did not shine as bright
And when He had finished all of this
He sealed it with an angel's kiss
and sent her to earth to be
a special friend to me
So I guess I'd have to say
that dreams really do come true
for the one I dreamt of was you
You've given my life a needed lift
and like pink champagne and roses
you are the perfect gift
Whenever you need me I'll be here
to share your joys or wipe away your tears
for I would walk an endless mile
just to see your smile
And if I had but just one day
before my life were through
I could think of nothing sweeter
than to spend that day with you
