Night-Song

Night-Song

Listen. Can you hear it? Hear the night-song,
The old, repetitive tune of the dark.
It dances, it lingers, it leaves a mark
Sounding through your soul like an ancient gong.
The song may be brief, the effect is long
Within your mind, till once again you hark
To the sound at once so lush and so stark.
And then, yuo know no right and no wrong,
And the dance takes you away in the night
In clouds of darkness, a strange warm embrace,
Dark swaying velvet, in pallid moonlight,
A soft, gentle kiss, a strange loving face.
I see in your eyes now burns the dark fire,
The night-song's passion, the soul's own desire.
