If I could paint a picture

If I could paint a picture
of our love
I'd need new colors
earthly ones would never do
for they are too often used
and our love is new
so I would start fresh
by traveling way into the heavens
for that special tint
that one perfect hue
which would depict Me and You

If I could show the depth
of our love in this picture
I'd lay it on thick
layer upon layer
of this special paint
I'd make stick
onto this canvas of love
...depth, I'd bequeath

If I could give life 
to this picture of love
I portray
I'd use carefree strokes
on the sunniest day
with the finest sable brushes
I'd dabble and play
and blend our love here
where it could stay
'til eternity, itself, faded away

If I could capture the essence 
of our love on this board
it's hard cold trait would be no more
I'd add to this canvas, softness and warmth
by painting a rainbow of special color
unbeknownst before
so that the world could truly see
just how beautifully our love doth soar
and any onlookers would gaze in awe
of our love so brilliantly shown
their eyes and hearts fixed
pining for some of their own
