Secret Love

Walking past your house,
Through the dark of night,
I tread softly near you.
I am hidden by the shadows
That dance all around me.

Then my heart slips into my mouth,
As I try to call out your name.
But my trembling lips are unable
To speak the sound of love
That fills me, when I am close to you.

Watching the few lingering stars, I await the dawn
That will soon sweep the sky with light.
Then I take one last look at your window and sigh...
As I close my eyes and imagine you-
Without me and unknowing of my affections.
