Burned before
I know the risks
but I refuse to handle love
with oven mitts.
If I get burned again
so be it
I don't want to numb myself 
to any of it
The hot dish of love may sear
the heart but
before the scars set in
it is worth it to sample the
treat once it has cooled
enough to savor the taste of it
There is no substitute for it - 
that dish is the 
very best
