symbiosis

What a sweet and
delicate symbiosis this is
my heart - your love - the world.

My heart like a big rock
your love took and threw
into the great big pool of the world
doesn’t seem to sink
but hovers just below the surface
barely noticeable to the pool
into which it has been thrown.

It can see the ripples moving
out over the world
almost perfect concentric rings
that are what world
takes note of.

Those ripples are as
boundaries within which my
heart feels safe
and when my heart begins
to sink into the pool I feel lost
because it is those boundaries that
define where I am
and where I belong
even if they are only on the surface.

For it is only when the
world buoys me that your
love can pick my heart up again
and throw it further out into the pool
to make ever larger ripples than before.
