I Thought of You
I called because I didn’t want you to go too far into your day
without knowing that I thought of you
Before I closed my eyes and went into the sleep of night the
fading sounds that echoed through my mind were thoughts of
you
And when the light of day seeped through my blinds to push
the dark of night away I once again embraced the thought of
you
Stumbling through my morning maze, preparing for this
endless race, I lost count of the times and ways I thought of
you
And so I’ve penned these words for some near or distant year
when memory takes leave, and all I’ve left is photographs and
grumbling papers by my side. I’ll hold this up as close as sight
requires and once again revive the thought of you
Please don’t think that all I did today was think of you...I
stopped from time to time to smile
