Not to see the signs

We danced the night away
Just another night with us two
Four years ago I wanted to say
That I had a hidden love for you

The great ball dropped and confetti fell
You turned to me and gave me a great kiss
I still remember the way you smelled
I still remember the opportunity missed

One week later we had to say goodbye
We talked all night about all our memories
You kissed me on the cheek and nearly cried
Then I fucked everything up by being me
