something i learned in a car lot

everybody is looking for a hand
or a hand out
or a hand-me-down
or a handgun
or a round of applause
somebody dressed up just like their best friend
but with better lips
or hips
either looking for a way in
or a way out
either looking for shelter
or trying to burn the shelter around them
down
looking for change
and looking for some comfortable familiarity in it
people want to believe
why are all the good girls with crappy guys?
why are all the good guys with crappy girls?
well...because good people have faith
and crappy people are good salespeople
not that i'm prejudiced against salespeople
