they say....

they say that diamonds are a girl's best friend
beautiful and shiny
able to survive a lifetime of lifetimes
born coal and pressed free of imperfections
a substitute for a good man long after he's gone
but who's they?
and do they truly know a woman's heart
give me a short passionate love affair any which way
over a mediocre purchase on credit on sale the day after labor day
unconditional and true
a friend to cry to, sigh to
bare my heart and soul to
along with my too full hips and curvy lips
and my uncanny ability to thrash a room in two seconds flat
who's not afraid to delve deeper into my ocean
and sail my turbulent seas
who will love me for me
and not just to hear please, more baby please
rock solid in himself and his mind
who preaches truth,
man, one of a kind
a marathon competitor while in my bed
who oozes sexuality
and wont balk at getting into my head
or under my skin
who's kisses make my shiver and shudder
and run for cover
a man of honor and valor
who will walk on the street side of the sidewalk
yet let me close my own door
a best friend indeed
in any time of need
who will just hold me
and mold me
into the person i strive to be
without assumptions or expectations
or telling me the stipulations
but a good time man
with a heart of gold
whose only monetary value is that of his soul
or like a hunk of coal, priceless
