all this raw yearning
what is that all about?
hearts are stupid
and follow desires that
too often yield no fruit
for them
for us
for love
brains are cold
rational thought doesn't
apply here
passion is the oil that floats
on the water
of the mind
souls are lost
looking for something that
we never quite accept
that we have the right
to be loved
for who we are
and who we could be
and who we once were
wrapped up neatly
in a package tied with
a ribbon of love
tethering us
to the ones who really want
to hold on
