Waltz Across Texas
Chase called last night and we talked for at least two hours. My gosh- I
LOVE HIM!!! I do I do I DO!!! We said "i love you" several times. He
called me his "candy." Talked about "The English Patient" and "Spawn"
and "My Best Friend's Wedding." I haven't seen the last two.
I turned on the radio and "A Country Boy Can Survive" was playing-
Chase said he sang it the other night when he was drunk. Then awhile
later "Waltz Across Texas" came on and I sang,"I could waltz across
Texas with you!" He said,"That's a good song." He loves me. He keeps
pictures of me on his "coffee dresser" (I said,"coffee dresser??what the
hell?!" he meant nightstand table!) and on his fridge and on his desk at
work. He worried me 'cause he kept coughing. He got beat up- his ribs are
broken and he has stitches in his leg. He said he wished there was a
teleport pad like on "Star Trek" so we could be together. We spoke words
of love to each other. When he finally ended the conversation, he said,
"I love you, babe" and I said,"I love you, too." Too sweet. Too exquisite.
I confess- I want to marry Michael Chase Childers and bear his children.
I accept his flaws and cherish his strengths. I'm too mushy, I love him
too damn much. Always have. I want to take care of him and nurture him
and bring him joy. I want to boil his shrimp and massage his muscles and
sing him to sleep. Now I'm high and can't sleep. Now I want to run a
hundred miles.
Got a postcard in the mail from Patrick McKimmey. We worked together
at Mo-Ranch the summer of '93. He gave me a ride to the ice cream shop
on his bicycle and wrote me a thank-you note for letting him play with
my checkers.
