i thought i had 
washed every piece of 
you 
off of me

i pushed your smile 
in the back of my mind 
along with 
differential equations 
and carbon 14 labelling 
and other remnants of last spring

but your smell 
still lingers 
mingling with my sheets 
and i must admit 
i kind of like it

you drive me crazy
in every conceivable way
the way you stay behind 
when you leave
the way we know each other 
at exactly the same time

but in my opinion
1500 miles 
aren't conducive
to the love i want
so
when i hear your laugh
echoing 
i don't listen anymore
