Awaiting verse

awaiting verse If my verse were at all
worth waiting for
I should have discovered by now
absent-minded pen
and creasèd brow
yet ink doth not flow
from heart alone
nor from my mind
from whence poetry often
suffers birth by hard labor
And so the field of
the page lay fallow
as the plow of this pen
is beaten into a sword
to make hearts bleed
