A Mournful Willow Tree

Two lovers embrace
beneath a hardwood tree
shielded from the wind
shaded by the canopy
of the saddened, droopy branches
of this mournful Willow tree
Unaware of sorrows
here and yet to come
swept up in a world
from whence heartache is from
Lost in kaleidoscope kisses
found in each other's arms
hearts unfurling, missing a beat
yet, still un-alarmed
And the Willow speaks,
 "Come play beneath my sorrows
 give me hope somehow tomorrow
 that I may know love
Etch your love within me deep
with your knife and make me weep
Carve a heart and write your names
that I may feel the same
 pain of love
And be ever mindful of the grace
 now written upon your face
when you gaze back upon me
 in memory of

...a mournful Willow tree
