bandage in D minor
making movement seem so simple
she's a dimestore dancer with ten dollar dimples
with a heart of stone
and a cadillac
and some bandaged wings taped upon her back
not quite sure who she's hiding them from
but, she hides them well
with her costume on
and i feel kinda consciencious
as she's rushing by
blushing loudly
shaking my hand
taking my hand
asking me
with a pleading look
if i could fix her wings
and other things
and i just look
hold back some thoughts
choke down the offer
reject the prospect
expect disaster
and say to her
that i can't help her
that i'd love to help her
that i just can't help her
as i hold her hand
and touch her heart
in a moment's space
and turn away
and stand in place
push away
pass on the right
unfold my own wings
in the night
and shriek with pain
as the stiches tear
and my body shakes
and my blood rains down
'til i can take no more
turn back to her
to meet her eyes
and tears
and whisper to her
"we are but mirrors"
