Solitary Confinement

The smiles
the tears
the sneaky way
you make me laugh.

the memories die hard
filled with
hardships and happiness
loving and hating
all of those emotions
and more.

The beginning
the end
and now try again?
what's a boy to do?

take me away
far away
give me my mind back
because i've lost it
in you.

remember,
i do,
fairytales
cigarettes
kamikazes with quarters
and palm tree nights
amidst the sparkling fountains
as we claimed our youth.

Swimming pools
and pool tables
friends and enemies
surrounded our optimism
with their doubts.

take me away
far away
for my heart needs healing
more now
than ever before.

take me there
anywhere

let me see
from a blindman's dog
on this lonely street,
then give to me
if you please
a much needed
solitary confinement.
