in this modern day
in this modern day
In this modern day
when people can develop
fast friendships without even
physically meeting
I continually wonder
if what I have to say makes
any difference to the one
human being in this entire
universe whose opinion
matters more that the
rest of the world and the
rest of all time
all bundled up together.
Sure, there are more people
than ever before who are
easier to ‘meet’
and insulated by distance
and by computer screen
I am able to be more
candid about myself
and who I am
and what hits me where I live
than I ever dreamt possible
when I first discovered that the words I choose
and the way I put them together
could bring a little
sunshine to someone’s day
But I keep coming
back to the one
person whose inspiration
makes me express my
most intimate dreams
hopes
fears
wrapped not always
so neatly in
packages of pretty
little words.
If I were suddenly to stop
sharing who I am
and who I am becoming
with you
would you miss it?
