Riddle: What danger I am talking about?

Dangerous, colorful, and sly,
It twists and slithers
With flicking tongue
Sliding in and out of furrows
And moist dark cavities
Looking for a meal
Furry and warm
Slithering out of its lair
And climbing mountains capped
With pink glow
Seeking extasy exploding ,
Near the heat of a volcano's fire.
Do not put your hand on it
For it will only sense your warmth
And will strike you when you're unaware
Filling your heart with pain
Just when your sentiments were most innocent
And all you wanted to do was feed it, love it, pet it.
The little traitor will turn on you.
Danger: do not sleep with or near this animal.
Even if you're a highly trained charmer.
Danger!
