Dying Soul

The sorrow within
sinks deep to the core
of his soul.

Drowning in his own contempt
shallow, but gasping
comes his inner truth
and truth kills.

Like a fallen angel
grace has abandoned him
and his murky darkness
welcomes
such sweet death.

Love came easily
but departed
painfully
and with much reckoning.

Save this man
as he
has lost all ability
to save himself
or the one he loves.

What sweet lips
have called out
so forgiving
and heroically loving
but alas
too late.

For his heart
has been slain with honor
and once hot
his blood now
runs cool
onto the dirt
from whence he came.
Ashes to ashes
dust to dust
screams
his dying soul.
