sweet lady torment
she was a secret topic of my dreaming
a little difficult to compare
a lovely lady who's soul was screaming
and i was hoping to repair
i saw her leaning on the railing, watching
the crashing waves and the northern lights
and it seemed as though she was touching
the sky to feel the heart of night
if love could be there now
i'd steal her sorrow
i'd offer up a vow
just for her to borrow
to place her in a gown with jewels glinting
would be an insult to her grace
her heart is bordered by a fence preventing
the cause of loneliness seen in her face
and i am saddened, knowing i'd be seen
as just another vulture male
or as a rat king trying to catch a queen
or as a petty thief at a garage sale
if love could be there now
i'd steal her sorrow
i'd make her smile somehow
and brighten her tomorrows
