unplugged

I won't pick up the phone unless it rings
But you stopped calling months ago
I worked so hard at bucking you up
that I finally ran out of energy
you ran my batteries down
until there was
no spark
no electrons to send over the line
not even a dial tone
nothing
nada
nichts
my heart
unplugged
no concert
only the roar of silence
I don't even have the energy
to look for a new battery
I may never
answer a call on my
heart ever again
