SCENE 65

SCENE 65-EXT.-Downtown San Antonio. Day.
Derek is sitting on a bench feeding bread crumbs to
the pigeons. The Catholic church bell begins to ring.
Derek glances at the church. Looks back at the pigeons.
A beautiful girl with long straight blonde hair approaches
Derek.
Girl: Derek? Derek! Oh, wow!
Derek: Melissa. How's it goin'?
Melissa: This is so weird! It's been what, two years?
Derek: I guess.
Melissa: You always knew how to flatter me.
Derek: Sorry. Sit down. It's good to see you.
Melissa: It's great to see you! I've missed you.
Derek: Oh, yeah?
Melissa: Yeah!
Derek: So how are things with you and Lane?
Melissa: Lane left me for an aerobics instructor.
Derek: Huh. That's too bad.
Melissa: Have you found anyone?
Derek: Yeah. We've been livin' together for a couple of weeks.
Melissa: That's great.
Derek: Yeah.
Melissa: So where did ya'll meet?
Derek: Pandora's Playground.
Melissa: That is so lame!
Derek: I met you in a bowling alley.
Melissa: Yeah, but at least we were bowling! I wasn't there to
pick up a guy. I was there to perfect my score.
Derek: But you went home with me that night.
Melissa: So?
Derek shrugs.
Melissa: Well, you're still Mr. Personality.
Derek: Don't mind me. I'm just sitting here feeding the birds.
Melissa: Do you want to go out tonight?
Derek: Not really. I have to work.
Melissa: Guess I'll see ya around.
Derek: Bye.
