Is it enough?
Is it enough
Enough that you showed your interest
With subtle, random and secretive gestures
Food for a starving soul
Unbelieving of my reciprocating emotions
Eager to please but reluctant to take
Is that enough?
Is it enough
Enough that you finally revealed the truth to me
With cautious worried and hesitant words
You climbed out on the limb
With coaxing from me
Now I know you want me too
Is that enough?
Is it enough
Enough that we dissected this relationship
With clear concise and sterile words
Weighed the pros and cons, the risks and glories
And agreed it was inevitable heartbreak
Without answering “would it be worth it”?
Is that enough?
It is not enough
When I see you by chance
When you make me laugh or comfort me when I am angry
I want to feel your arms around me then
Your breath on my neck, the taste of your mouth
I want to show you what you’ve given me
I want to tell you it is not enough
