Coming Home

Six months of eternity
seemed like reality
took a back seat
and that's alright with me.

Coming home unsettles
the defeated emotions
so voided by escape and drink
but that's alright with me.

No closure yet my friend
for all has changed in six months
a year, a lifetime,
for this man
and it's still alright with me.

Work saves me from thought
but work can't replace
the vacated warmth
of being beautiful.

Destiny plays
by its own rules
and now I must learn the game
in which I choose to participate
but it's all gonna be
alright with me.
