Love

The rhythm of love sometimes starts like tires squealing on a long stretch of road,
Sometimes that is how it ends, and at times it starts like two hearts beating in unison.
Love flows like one soul within two bodies, sees one goal through two sets of eyes,
Has one desire existing in two separate realities, one eternal hope of together- forever.
It is the feeling I get standing in the warmth of the sun after a long cold winter…
Only better.
It's like waking up to the rain falling softly outside, and having someone to listen with,
Or someone whispering quietly in the darkness loud enough to scatter the aloneness.
Love is simple things…
Like having something to hug at night other than a pillow, someone to watch as they sleep,
Someone who steals the blankets and enjoys putting their cold feet on me.
Love is going to a late night diner with a friend, it is laughing together at Laurel & Hardy,
It is the joy and the expectation of a long awaited kiss, or the sound of someone's voice…
It is in the moments spent gazing tenderly into that person's eyes and seeing myself there,
And often it is in the times spent alone- missing those eyes and that voice, when only memories remain.
Love is the wrap that Hope places around us to keep the bitter winds of Fear, Doubt and Loneliness at bay.
It is a walk in the park on a fall day, watching children at play, holding hands while sitting in the rain…
And love is the words my soul cannot speak, but directs my hands to write on paper for you to read,
It is the candle within the temple of my heart that beckons you home, lighting your path to the unlocked door.
It's all that you inspire in me with just a smile.
