Phoenix
Honestly I care so deeply for you…
I lived for the moments we shared together,
But I'll not be a beggar seeking scraps of your heart.
Or a thief trying to steal a kiss or an embrace,
These things are not mine to consider, yet alone desire.
What I offer you is my friendship- full and free,
What I expect is that you be true to yourself- and that you remember me...
It is true that each kiss lights a fire inside my heart,
But to allow the dreams that you inspire- will only leave me in ashes.
So, reluctantly I once again raise the walls that protect,
Not because I am angry or disappointed- I just have to…
For I know not how many times I can rise again- like the phoenix.
