Alligator's Teeth
The hand of God took all control
Of the female moon in the sky.
My woman's heart, my jumbled soul,
Could, helpless, just stand by.
A crowd of people stood around,
Pointing at me, they jeered.
"To just how many are you bound?"
Discovered, as I feared.
My legs were weak, my face was pale,
As I watched the churning sky.
When the alligator bit my heel
My mouth muted my cry.
I am too strong for this, too strong.
I'm more than who you know.
I'm heartless, wicked, cruel and wrong,
Even in love's afterglow.
Alone, alone, alone in love
While loved by wondrous three.
Why should the hand that moves above,
Do else but punish me?
I unlock the teeth from off my foot
With a shining, golden key.
I am released! I've myself put
Away from thee and thee and thee.
