The Awakening
The Awakening
He gives a slight smile as he walks past her.
Never noticing how her cheeks flush as their eyes meet.
How could he not notice she wore a new dress today.
One that softly caressed the shapeliness of her figure.
And highlighted the golden strands of hair
That fall softly across her shoulders.
He never notices her glances
From far across the crowded room.
He is deep in conversation with others
Oblivious to the her presence or her desires.
In time he makes his way back toward her,
As her heart begins to race.
Again the same smile, their eyes meet for only an instant.
Then he is gone again, swallowed up buy the ever present crowds.
Why can’t he see her, realize she longs to be his, to fulfill his every desire.
She tries to keep her head up, to keep the tears from flowing.
So many times he has been so close, yet so very far away.
Is there someone else? He is always alone.
Is she just not appealing to him? What does he look for? What does he want?
Finally she gives out a sigh, emptiness and sadness cover her face.
I have to move on, there are others I’m sure, he just isn’t the one.
She makes a promise to let go of the dream,
To find someone who will can see her, know her, and love her.
The weeks pass on, he returns again.
Where is she, why isn’t she here?
The girl with the magical smile and the shining blue eyes.
The golden hair and the youthful figure.
Why hasn’t see been here the last few days, where could she be.
Then, from the corner of his eye, he sees her.
Smiling and laughing, talking to a guy in the corner.
Who is he? What is he to her? Why is she looking at him like that?
Why didn’t I speak to her earlier. She was always there,
Always with that smile.
How I want to hold her, to taste those sweet lips,
To run my fingers through her hair.
Why didn’t I see her before?
Why didn’t I see her before?
