clocks won't stop ticking
life won't stop sticking
poison plunged knives
into my stoic heart
a cart could not carry
this mess away
delayed destiny
trip trapped over
the bridge
too late
the troll ate the fatted calf
half of my heartache
was blown my way
at birth
mirth was shirked
it didn't fit
top forty songs take longer
to write
but this night is reserved
for instant illumination
and a series
of serious questions
answered
with riddles.
