The Hope

Tiny little depressions in my ship of life
You left, but tiny ones
tiny ones of many
and many ones that were tiny

The next thing I knew the lifeboat was gone
and there was rope everywhere
everywhere there was rope
And rope was just all about

And then I saw you in the mist
waving your hand directly at me
I saw you waving
Waving at the man on the ship

So I wanted to take you back in
but you tore the rope
all that rope that was everywhere
was torn rope all about

Now we're back on shore
and time for parting has come
and coming has parted
Like the parting of coming

We can walk together
hoping that we will
will we be hoping?
Or just willing that each other is hoping?

Let's walk as friends into the night and keep each other safe
Like it was always meant to be.
