LOST HEART
Washing breathe of sweet release leaks my lips
To let go of the self protected hand
Hiding me away so still...so very long
Taking baby steps to here
I’ve only peered the edge of wall
Time to climb to other side of life
Must I... be strong and brave
Coaxed by you like beast from lair
With tender words, encouragement
I grandly, freely, leap the mote of tears
That’s kept me in for years
And step to grasp your promised love
Hope shining here upon my barren land
Heart in hand...I reach for real to feel again
You pull me close to brush these dusty languid lips
Desired so long yours meld on mine
Then whisper quick as though a moment’s time
You push me back into the murky waves
This only tattered heart...held so tight
Just exposed to offer you my all
Falls and swirls into the fogged abyss
Never to be touched again
I drag myself to shore
Head up...held high...no frown allowed
Only smile acceptable from here on out
Though wanting so to drown...I do not die
I must survive, sweet lover mine
To make the final switch
That puzzle men do question ”Why?”
