A morning in the sun

A morning in the sun
Where we lay so long ago
Early risen so we might sleep
In each other’s arms.

Dust motes danced
Past my lazy eyes
As I took a breath
Of your lilac scented hair

And so we lay in chaste embrace
As the morning waxed and waned
Until your mother’s voice
Forced us awake again
