Twirling about in the trappings of a new love
wondering where the future precedes
as you follow the pickets and paychecks and pecks on the cheek
with fences and trimmings and evenings
spent near fires and wine.

And from time to time the conflict arises
and comes calling and then
what?
Sprint away into the new and the sweet
and meet something someone who catches your eye
and tantilzies and teases

But where does the love come from?
look back in your notes
and find the reminisces and kisses
and tiny little deeds done with love.

And now you remember
and see through the guise

realize that what follows
is your heart.
