The Dance
The invitation was explicit though she had never uttered a word
body language said it all
and he understood every unspoken word
it coursed through his body like an electric shock
setting his nerve ending on high alert.
So locking his eyes on her own, he simply nodded as he stepped into her space.
And smiled to himself as she refused to step back
allowing him into her personal space freely
So without a word he reached out and placed his hands on her tight body
One high on her left shoulder, naked in her form fitting hot pink dress
The other low on her right hip, which felt sharp and dangerous beneath his open palm.
And as the music slowly started to heat up
She did much the same
One hand resting lightly on his waist
As the other found the hip pocket of his Dockers.
And watching her eyes, he saw something amazing.
Deep in the green-flecked brown, he saw a storm brewing
A blast of hot air rushing through an arid arroyo
Fueled by the rhythm of the music
Fed by a raw animal desire.
And he watched, fascinated as the sides of her nostrils flared
in sync to her heartbeat
which was increasing to a rapid staccato by the minute.
And beads of sweat formed across her forehead
and upper lip.
And refusing to fight what was inevitable
he leaned forward
and took her upper lip into his mouth, tasting the bitter but sweet sweat there
And gasping, she responded hungrily
raining kisses on his face that felt like hot embers
burning there; brief but hot.
And moving his left hand down now
He had both palms open now, one on each hip
As he tried to hold on tight to her swaying, bouncing torso.
And pulling her hips forward into his own, he felt her body
fully pressed to his now
their skin and clothing creating an intense and delightful friction
that ran through him in a shiver
Arousing him fully.
And leaning in, he kissed her fully now
With both passion and a promise
His tongue exploring the warm, wet dark fully now.
And as the music slowed to a stop, he saw the look in her eye
and her glance at the door
And again, simply nodded yes
And followed her as she parted the crowd and led him out the door
and into her night.
