Touching The Truth

I thought I knew the meaning
of so many little words
like love, and trust, and oh yes touch,
and then you loved me
taught me to trust
and touched me so completely
that I needed to learn those words all over again.

I feel your lips play on my neck---
no hurry, we have all the time in the world,
and I slip into delicious
when your arms go round my waist.
You set the flame to sear
with a whisper that says
god, I want you
and the shiver that takes me
shakes me head to toe
and it begins.

I am touching you,
touching love,
touching need and desire---
but more---
I am touching the truth
the bedrock of my soul
and releasing everything I have,
lying exposed in your arms
yours for the taking---
humbled and exalted
by the flame in your eyes
and the catch in your voice
when you speak my name
and take me
to gold and amber
and every color
every taste
every sensation I have ever known.

Touching you
is touching the truth
of everything I ever wished
wanted
longed for
or dreamed---
new words
more sharply defined---
touching truth...
