View from Above
I open my eyes slowly
and though still half asleep, I feel you.
I know you are awake again, and watching me sleep.
and while I will never understand why that comforts you so
that's okay too
If it brings you peace, that is all that really matters.
So I roll over quickly, catching you in my arms by surprise
And make you turn over too
So we can cuddle,
Me at your back, arms surrounding you fully
one breast for each hand
as we silently watch the mist rise through the trees
and be caught in the wind and pulled apart
disappearing in the sunlight of another morning.
And on these precious mornings we never speak
for words are not necessary
when love is so present and abundant in the here and now
that our very souls bask in glow of each other.
In bed, in a cabin, in the woods, on a mountain
As another beautiful day breaks on our life together.
