Buoyant Brat
here she comes again dancing through
my head throwing white rose petals etching
hearts with his initials inside on the fogged
up bathroom mirror dreaming up Christmas with
his family and Easter with mine singing "Wonderwall"
thinking he's the knight on the trusty steed who is
going to joust for my honor and send me balloon
bouquets just because oh yes without a doubt
because he makes me laugh so hard that I spew
Shiner Bock and because he tells me he'll throw
the moon in my shopping cart and because he traces
intricate designs on my bare back with his talented
fingertips and gives me butterfly kisses that make
my tummy flip flop and flutter and because he calls
me babe like it's nothin' he is going to roll me
into a snowball and toss me into the air and all
is fair in love I hear so I know different I know
I know I know the games and the shame and the names
crossed out in my journal entries she is playing
dumb winking giggling skipping humming invading
my jaded hard-earned tea room in the shade she is
begging for a sound spanking the buoyant little
brat and I've done kinky to death and found that
it's vastly overrated...
