Confetti

confetti flutters
slow
lit atop the glass
supple lips
aglow
kisses come to pass

not as time,
you see
so quick to leave
so quick
to flee

as the glimmer on the
rim
becomes glowing bright
then permanently
dim
dark as the night

your lips press
against
crystal covered wine
heat overcomes;
amidst
your body against mine

nothingness
whispered
into your ear
the old
disappeared
starting new this year
