Feedin' the Hunger

casual sex disables my magic
       and makes me
        hungry
there's nothing quite like
a bacon and cheese omelet
and coffee with sugar and cream
at Denny's or IHOP
after some crazed sex
with a new friend
but when the hunger
is gone
and the phone
stops ringing
and I'm frantically searching
for clues
on the floor
around
my bed
I realize
I've made
another mistake
and no eating binge
no trip to the mall
no poem
can make it better
no amount of bloodletting
can make it
   go
   away
he won't call back
he's just another number
   and I'm three
   years away
    from 30
and ten pounds overweight
by current 
aesthetic standards
